Qualifications & Professional Training

My name is Danielle Southall, and I am a UK-based online counsellor and psychotherapist working with individuals aged 18+ across the UK. I am a US-trained Clinical Mental Health Counsellor and an Accredited Registrant Member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (MNCPS Acc.).

Seeking support is a powerful and courageous step. I offer a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental space where we can explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences together. My aim is to support you in developing clarity, emotional resilience, and meaningful change through a collaborative therapeutic relationship.

I work with anxiety (including social and health anxiety), depression, trauma, grief, stress, perfectionism, low self-esteem, emotional overwhelm, intrusive thoughts, compulsive behaviours, attention and focus difficulties, and emotional regulation challenges. I also support relationship and communication difficulties, including boundary-setting, dependency patterns, and interpersonal stress. I have a particular interest in working with LGBTQIA+ individuals experiencing identity-related stress, minority stress, and the emotional impact of invalidating or unsupportive environments.

My approach is integrative and collaborative, drawing on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI), tailored to your individual needs and goals.

I am compassionate, approachable, and client-focused. I value building a trusting therapeutic relationship where you feel safe, heard, and supported. Therapy can feel daunting at first, and I aim to offer a steady, structured space to support change.

I am based in Dorset, originally from the Greater Chicago area in the United States. Outside of work, I enjoy reading, gardening, spending time outdoors, playing games, and spending time with family.

I offer online counselling and psychotherapy sessions across the UK, providing flexible and accessible support.

Above all, I aim to offer an inclusive and affirming therapeutic space for individuals of all backgrounds, identities, and life experiences. I’m here to walk alongside you — to listen, empower, support you as you navigate life’s challenges. Healing is possible, and you don’t have to do it alone. Let's take this journey together.
