Background and Approach
Qualifications & Professional Training
My name is Danielle Southall, and I am a UK-based online counsellor and psychotherapist, based in Dorset, working with adolescents (14+), young adults, and adults across the UK. I am a US-trained Clinical Mental Health Counsellor and an Accredited Registrant Member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (MNCPS Acc.).
I offer a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you can freely explore and process your thoughts, emotions, and experiences at your own pace. My aim is to help you build clarity, emotional resilience, and meaningful changes through a collaborative therapeutic relationship.
I work with a range of psychological and emotional challenges, including anxiety (including social and health-related anxiety), depression, trauma, grief, stress, self-esteem and confidence difficulties, relationship difficulties, perfectionism, attention and focus challenges, emotional regulation, compulsive behaviours, LGBTQIA+ related stressors, and intrusive thoughts.
My approach is integrative, drawing on evidence-based therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing, tailored to your unique individual needs and strengths.
Therapeutically, I am compassionate, collaborative, and empowering. I meet clients where they are and believe healing happens best within a trusting and respectful relationship. Clients often describe me as thoughtful, caring, approachable, and genuinely invested in their wellbeing. I place great value on creating a structured and consistent space, particularly for those who may feel anxious about therapy, and building a strong therapeutic relationship based on trust, empathy, and authenticity is the foundation of our work.
Seeking support is a powerful and courageous step. I am deeply passionate about supporting individuals as they work towards healing, growth, and the realisation of their full potential. Together, we will create meaningful goals and track your progress as you move towards greater clarity and emotional wellbeing.
I offer virtual counselling and psychotherapy sessions for individuals aged 14 and over across the UK, making mental health support more accessible and flexible to suit your lifestyle and personal needs.
Above all, I aim to provide an inclusive, affirming, culturally responsive, and accessible online service for individuals of all backgrounds, identities, and life experiences. I’m here to walk alongside you — to listen, empower, support you as you develop effective coping strategies as you navigate life’s challenges. Healing is possible, and you don’t have to do it alone. Let's take this journey together.
